Mr. Utterson... is a very friendly man who wants to help his dear friend and is concerned for him. He wants Dr. Jekyll to come out and talk to him and his cousin.

Mr. Enfield... is a very quiet but friendly man who wants to help and talk to Mr. Jekyll after seeing his pitiful state.

Dr. Jekyll... is sitting with a face of infinite sadness and looks like a prisoner instead of a doctor in his room. He is very dreary and looks forlorn. Jekyll does not want anyone to come to his room because it is untidy and messy but even stops talking from the window anyways as he is frightened afterward.

This chapter takes place on Sunday in front of the street to the backdoor of Mr. Jekyll's house. The day was setting with a bright sunset with a cool but damp breeze. This is significant since Mr. Utterson and Mr. Enfield meets Mr. Jekyll in his window.
